All-Electric Contender in 2016 Dakar Rally

2015-12-07

In this, the first video on ETRdotTV that has been produced by a third party, the ACCIONA Group reveals its entry into the Dakar Rally. This is a 100% all-electric zero emissions vehicle. The Dakar Rally is a more than 8000 Kilometer long on-road and off-road test of the endurance of man and machine.

This is the second year that ACCIONA has entered an electric vehicle in Dakar. In 2015 the car broke down before finishing the race, but they are back with a new and improved design for the 2016 race, to be held in January in South America.

ACCIONA, based in Spain, is an example of a large infrastructure company that is transforming itself into becoming a leader of renewable energy projects and large infrastructure. They are involved in the construction of the new Detroit-Windsor Gordie Howe International Bridge, being built by Canada. They have already built the just opened bridge access express road - The Herb Gray Parkway- on the Windsor side. That road is more a park than a road, with actual parks being built on decks over the road - pretty cool! For more information on the company, you can visit their website.
